1802. Jane McCunn was born to Thomas McCunn and Elizabeth Hastie. . No baptism found by me on SP or FS , allowing for different spellings to a Thomas . But Alison - from Jennifer - has her baptised 13/3/1802 in Inverkip, Renfrewshire

1823. Jane McCunn marries Robert Muir 29/11/1823 Inverkip/Greenock, she of that parish, he of the old parish of Greenock. Parishes about 6 miles apart.

1873 Robert Muir, master shoemaker, dies,10 /2/1873, aged 77, of Apoplexy, at 5 Tobago Street, Greenock. Parents given as James Muir, shipwright/journeyman, & Janet Duncan. .Informant James Muir, son, 78 College Street, Dumbarton . Married to Jane Currie - this very odd!, Have a 1879 death certificate for a 70 yr old Jane Muir, nee Curry, but she was married to a William Muir, also a shoemaker!,who outlived her. But why would his eldest son James, the informant, not know that his mother was Jane McCunn??, and she was still alive anyway, dying in 1877. Cannot quickly find a William Muir marriage to a Jane Curry/Currie on FS.
1877. Jane Muir, 75, widow of Robert Muir, shoemaker, dies 4/3/1877 at 8 Shore Street, Gourock, Renfrew, of General Disability ......8 days . Her parents were: Thomas McCunn, ropemaker, deceased, & Elizabeth Hastie, not given as deceased, but surely must be!. Informant was James Muir, son . Gourock about 3 miles west of Greenock. No number 8 Shore Street exists in the 1881C! BUT, a Thomas McCunn , 73, was living Shore Street Inverkip, Renfrew in 1841C

Incredulously, Alison Hawker, ggggranddaughter of Jane McCunn/Muir - via Jane's second son Robert 1828 - has inherited a memorial card for her:

"In Affectionate Remembrance of Jane McCunn or Muir who died at 8 Shore Street, Gourock, 4th March 1877, Aged 75 years". It's a gorgeous thing, embossed black and cream card.
And Alison's cousin, Sue, has a letter sent from Scotland to Australia, informing Robert McCunn 1828 that his mother had died.
