1891. Working back from his eventually found 1934 dc, William Mclellan remarried Helen Young in Anderston Glasgow this year - SP, not purchased
1901C. His sister Ann, 53 and William's children James 18 and Elizabeth 17 are living 60 Barrowfield St Camlachie Glasgow. So surely he must have died?? although his daughter's 1919 dc does not give him as deceased! , nor does her 1899 m.c. His son, William, probably married to an Annie , born Ayrshire, with one child Maggie 1. And daughter Jane is living in Perth with married sister Annie.
1901C. Is he the William Mclellan 52, cooper, married to an Elizabeth, with children James 18 and Elizabeth 14, living St Rollox Glasgow. Occupation odd, but he has changed occupations before!. So, did he remarry 1891-1901?- 12 marriages in Glasgow City, but seemingly none to an Elizabeth.. But the following 1902 dc shows this is NOT he.
1902. William Gilfillan Mclellan, 54, cooper journeyman, married to Elizabeth Black?Congalton, dies 26/1/1902 at 276 Parliamentary Road Glasgow St Rollox of bronchitis . But parents here are Daniel Mclellan and Margaret Gilfillan and informant a Daniel McLellan son. So, this is NOT our William Mclellan - just a queer coincidence that another William Mclellan has a mother Gilfillan as opposed to a wife Gilfillan!!

Incorrect d.c.
So where is he? - have failed to find him so far in 1901& 1911C, but his daughter's 1919 dc does not give him as deceased. His sister Ann, and 2 children, James 18 & Elizabeth 17 are living in Barrowfield Road Glasgow in the 1901C: does this not suggest he has died 1891-1901??. In hindsight, he had probably remarried Helen Young/McCabe by this time and children not too pleased! Is a death 1893 aged 50 Bridgeton, Glasgow a possibility?? - do not think so, age 5 years out. Is a death 1925 aged 74 Hillhead Glasgow a possibility?? - age 3 years out . Think this mystery would cost likely 20 credits on SP to solve! Most likely he dies , aged 86, in 1934 GARNGADHILL Glasgow. But would need to find him in one of the 2 missing censuses to pursue this d.c. Neither FMP nor Ancestry include Scotland for 1911C.
