Ivy Edna Hedley 1919 - 2011
Have now established that she was born in Kurri Kurri Australia to Isabella's sister, Ann Sanderson 1894, who married William Hedley in Sydney in 1914
William Hedley was born to William & Bessie Hedley at the end of 1890
"There was also a cousin of my Mums called Ivy, her father when.to to Australia when she was very young promising to send for her & her mother, never heard of again".
Now proved that this not entirely true- her mother having died in 1919 but her father did indeed return to Australia in 1922
Ivy Hedley was born in Kirri Kirri NSW on 23/3/1919 and her mother died 22/7/1919- buried 29/7/1919 - Kurri Kurri .

William Hedley, 29, miner, returned to England on 2/2/1920 with infant Ivy
![]()
1922. Her father, W. Hedley, miner, of 23 Oswald Road, Newbiggin by the Sea, returned to Sydney, leaving on 20/1/1922 - seemingly with another local miner - on the Orvieto. His destination was Eighth Street, Weston, Maitland - Weston ~2 k from Kurri Kurri, the Maitlad Seam was a rich minefield there

Seemingly nothing else was then heard from him back in England. But he was fined in Kurri Kurri in 1925 for being drunk and using improper language in a hotel/pub[ he had also been fined in 1915 for riotous behaviour] .
From Ancestry Australian Electoral Rolls:
1930 . He, miner, was living Frances Street, Paxton, Bellbird
1936. 1927. 1943. 1949, 1954 . He, miner, was living Glover Street, Belmont, Charleston
1930, 1940, 1944, 1952. He was fined for various offences- assault, indecent language, offensive behaviour, drunk & swearing - all drink induced.
He never remarried. Presumably died soon after 1954 in the same area- no more references
Likely Ivy Hedley stayed living with her paternal grandparents at 23 Oswald Road until she married in 1940.
1939. Ivy Hedley , 20, is living with her Hedley grandparents at 23 Oswald Road, Newbiggin by the Sea - in 1939 Register

1939 Charles Lymer, b.1914, steam road roller driver, H W , is living 6 Bridge Street,Newbiggin by the Sea- FMP 1939 Register
1940. Ivy E Hedley married Charles G Lymer NorthC Jun 1940 & had Judith 1946, Charles 1947, Diane 1955, & Eileen 1959 - they moved to County Durham between 1947 & 1955 : these 4 children received 12.5% of the estate of their uncle George Amos' when he died, intestate, in Hawick in 1976 : but Eileen likely never received her share as she had vanished - with a gypsy- around 1973.
Does Charles have a photo of their wedding??

Bella had no brother Will, but her sister Ann Sanderson married William Hedley. This photo would have been sent in August 1919, just after his wife Ann had died
As Bella's mother died in 1900, & her mother in law died in 1911, who does Will mean when he writes about 'your Ma'? - could this be what Bella called Granny Floyd?? . She does have a brother John who might have been known as Jack . And Mrs Murdy was a friend of Ann's, likely had a child at the same time, - she remembers Ann's death a year later on 22/7/1920 - newspaper cutting above

.
Ann Sanderson- Bella's 1894 sister - married a William Hedley in Sydney 1914 - so this is she above.
Ivy Lymer's ? youngest daughter 14/15 yrs old - Eileen b. 1959 - , ran away with a gypsy after there had been a fair where they lived, never to be heard of again,
broke her parents but especially her father's heart.

2011. Ivy Edna Lymer, aged 92, dies on 3/12/2011 Dunmow Essex CM6 - Ancestry. She was buried on 15/12/2011 in Felsted - google

So likely William Hedley knew Ann Sanderson - she then living Linhope Terrace, Chevington Drift - by 1911.

Map showing Hedgehope Terrace and Linhope Crescent- likely Linhope Terrace was off the latter
1911. A possibility: W, Hedley, 21, maybe miner, arrives Brisbane 23/8/1911, from Liverpool- Ancestry
