Joseph Mycock ~1762

The Mycocks were farmers around Flagg /Hartington

1762/3. 2 Baptisms exist for a Joseph Mycock, both in Chelmorton, but with address of Flagg, in 1762 & 1763 to a Solomon & Mary and to a Ricd. -FMP . Flagg was where his future wife was born and Chelmorton where she was baptised in 1762 . Our Joseph does not call any of his sons either Solomon or Richard!

1787 .Joseph Mycock married Hannah Bowman on 4/6/1787 Earl Sterndale Derby. Earl Sterndale~5 m NNW of Hartington ,~3 m W of Flagg

1788-1795 Henry Mycock was baptised to Joseph Mycock & Hannah 16/1/1795 Hartington, as were John 1788, Joseph 1789, Sarah Feb1792 & Mary Mycock Dec 1792.

Thus they had Mary Mycock , baptised 1792, & Henry Bowman Mycock, baptised 1795, to them in Hartington, Derbyshire .

Mary married a Maxwell and lived in Manchester 1841-1872 - see details about her on the page of Clara Bowman Mycock, the 1840 daughter of Henry

Henry for some unknown reason dropped his Mycock surname and called himself Henry Bowman from before 1821 when he married in London. He died in 1847, his wife having predeceased him in 1843, and his sister, Mary Maxwell, brought up his 2 youngest daughters, Clara & Alice, in Manchester

I have not found a death for Joseph on FMP, Ancestry or IGI. Do not seem to be any Ancestry family trees with him in . Nor does he appear in 1841C/1851C.

A Robert b. 1773 and a Mathew b. 1779, both born Flagg, do exist in 1851C: they are, respectively, a pauper and a farmer of 16 acres freehold!

To progress further would need to search in the Derbyshire Archives for baptisms & burials of parishes such as Hartington, Flagg, Earl Sterndale etc.
