1922. Her father died - she, apparently, had been cut out of his will { was thought he disapproved of her marriage}

We visited Gertrude's widower in Bures, ( 12 k NW of Colchester) Essex, in a wonderful black-and-white cottage [ lots of pictures on the Web of like cottages!] with undulating floorboards, when I was about 8; I was so strongly gripped by the house that ultimately I have bought one such myself! - NIgel
The devoted Harry took up G's pleasure in ancient buildings, and in the 1950s produced some small books on this theme, dedicated to his late wife.
