I am aware of 2 different months of birth below- seemingly not too important!

FMP has virtually no Canadian records!

When Johann Fredrick Goebel was born on 7 November 1844 in Stryj, Lubelskie, Poland, ( ?? from ABlake tree!) his father, Jakob, was 36 and his mother, Margaretha, was 36. He married Elisabetha Barbara Paff and they had six children together. He then married Elizabeth Hollinger and they had 13 children together. He also had seven children from another relationship. He died on 14 February 1918 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, at the age of 73, and was buried there

1870-1880 Johann Friedrich Goebel was widowed

1881. 2nd jan. Johann Friedrich Goebel married Elizabeth Hollinger, in Stryjski, Austria

1888. Johann Friedrich Goebel arrived in Ellis Island, New York on 23/5/1888

1891CC. Cannot find the family in the 1891CC. Maybe still in the US? but cannot find them there either

1892. Barbara Goebel was born to Johann Friedrich and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth . 12 other children reportedly born to this marriage

His naturalization, ~1896, would be useful

Wilhelm/William Goebel 1900 was in Portland Oregon by the early 1950s and sponsored Fred Dey, his wife Freda Schlotthauer, (Willhem's niece, daughter of his 1892 sister Barbara)and their 2 daughters, Dorothy & Lorraine

Wilhelm 1900 is not with his parents in the 1911CC nor the 1916CC

He immigrated into the US in 1924 and his 2 children were born in Portland: William Frederick born 30/11/1925 and Marlin Raymond born 1/11/1927

He applied for US Naturalization in 1941- the form available on Ancestry . He was born 10/8/1900 in Spruce Grove Alta. He had blue eyes, light brown hair, was 5ft 7 in high,, 160 pounds and of German origin. In 1941 he was living 5730 NE 22nd St. Portland

1925. William Goebel married Inez Fish on 8/4/1925 in Vancouver, Clarke, Washington, USA , his parents Frederick J Goebel & Elizabeth Hollinger

Can only find one William G*bel, actually Goebel, aged 50, b. Canada, proprietor,nurse machine route??, living in Portland ( 22nd Street) in 1950USC and he is by himself, widowed

In 1940USC he is also on 22nd Street, aged 39, with wife Irene and children william F 14 and M

He was working for the American Can Company. and living at the same address, when he was drafted in 1942- draft card on Ancestry

Aunt Mary (Goebel 1890) was also in Portland, Eleanor’s aunt/Granny’s (Barbara’s)sister - I believe she was the first one in that family who moved to Portland (when did she move there?)

When Dorothy & Lorraine moved away from staying with him, did they keep in touch? Do they remember his, by then, grown uo children, Frederick & Marlin??
