1900. His wife, Emily Trelfer/ Hayllar, 43, dies Brighton Dec

1901C. George Trelfer, 45, pauper, is in the Brighton Workhouse, Elm Street . What has happened to all his daughters? -aged 12-24. Alice is in the workhouse with him, as is a William 9 & Queenie 3 who might well be his children. Ellen, Elizabeth & Florence are in service

It would be interesting to see the Workhouse Entry book, likely in the East Sussex Archives, to see if Emily Smith, his daughter, is given as a relative . Presumably Emily & John Smith could not afford to look after her younger siblings, Alice & - probably -William & Queenie, even though the Smiths were in 4 rooms in the 1901C

1903. . George Trelfer, 46, dies Brighton Mar 1903.
