El viernes viajamos por Noto y Syracuse hasta Catania. Aparcamos sin dificultades en las afueras de Noto y dimos un paseo en esta ciudad de Unesco. Entramos en la catedral totalmente renovada desde la caida de su cupula en 1966 y bebimos un zumo de naranja. Continuamos hasta otro sitio Unesco, el de Neapolis Arquilogico en Syracuse. Anduvimos por el teatro greco, el teatro romano y otras ruinas.

We stayed in the Catania Palace Hotel, right in the centre. Good room, a gym, and lovely rooftop terrace, |

but food at dinner was poor, but servce friendly. Breakfast room somewhat sombre & soulless. |

We dined twice in this Bib Michelin Restaurant: very good experience the 1st time, not quite so good the 2nd: a drugged waiter! |

Llegamos al hotel 'Catania Palace' cerca de las tres despues de dificultades en encontrarlo. Dejamos el coche en la calle; el hotel tenia un servicio aparcacoches. Tuvimos una habitacion ejecutiva en la planta seis; habia una pequena sala pero preferimos sentarnos en el dormitorio! Dimos un paseo de 30 minutos antes de tomar tapas y disfrutar de un bano, la primera vez en Sicilia. Cenamos en un restaurante 'Bib Michelin' y charlamos con una pareja de Colorado. El domingo despues de un desayuno bueno en un comedor sin vistas y , tambien, poca luz, condujimos hasta el volcan Etna, con confusion para los primeros 20 kilometros. Ahi subimos de 1900 metros hasta 2500 metros en teleferico. Dimos un paseo pequeno por la ruta empinada, con nieve sobre la ceniza de ambos lados. De regreso en el hotel hice ejercicios en el gimnasio y lei en su terraza.

Despues de tapas fuimos a andar, pero solamente hasta una tienda de zapatos donde David compro dos pares de zapatos de deporte. Cenamos en el restaurante de la azotea del hotel - un lugar muy agradable pero su comida terrible!. Pero los camareros lidiaron bien con el problema : me dieron mazapanes!! Sin saberlo antes, perdimos una hora durante la noche. Despuess de desayunar fuimos de marcha durante 4 horas. Entramos en una iglesia baroca( habia muchas) y en la catedral antes de visitar el castillo del siglo 12, hoy en dia el museo civico: habia fotos interesantes de Etna en una planta. Y entonces encontramos el teatro romano, completamente escondido por casas; muy, muy interesante. Despues de regresar al hotel nos sentamos en la terraza en el techo y leimos y bebimos un coctel y recibio mas mazapanes! Cenamos en el mismo restaurante como el viernes, pero David no elijio bien. Y el gerente parecia estar drogado
