We enjoyed a couple of hours in the town's amphitheatre which had such splendid views over the sea and Etna. |

The ancient theatre is built for the most part of brick, and is therefore probably of Roman date, though the plan and arrangement are in accordance with those of Greek, rather than Roman, theatres; therefore it is supposed that the present structure was rebuilt upon the foundations of an older theatre of the Greek period.

El lunes salimos a explorar los vinedos al norte de Etna pero no pudimos encontrarlos! Sin embargo el paisaje nos gusto mucho. Llegamos al B y B 'Maison Blanche', Taormina, muy temprano despues de atrevesar la carretera con muchos curvos muchas veces . La bienvenida fue excepcional: la casa, su arquitectura moderna y la vista maravillosos, pero, nuestra habitacion, mal amueblada, con vista a una valla oxidada, fue un cruel engano. La habitacion estaba vieja y la vista desde su cama era de un frigorifico blanco. Si, tenia su propia terraza con vista a mar, pero a la vuelta de la esquina de la valla oxidada. Que contraste con el area de abajo! Salimos con dificultades de su parking a las 4 y condujimos por una carretera estrecha y sinuosa hasta el aparcamiento de muchas plantas, Puerta Catania - no era una chiste aparcar ahi con nuestro coche tan ancho! Pero Taormina era encantador y pasamos tres horas ahi, andando por sus calles y sus jardines antes de cenar en el restaurante 'Rosmarino' . El proximo dia aparcamos en el aparcamiento del 'Funavia' y tomamos este para llegar a la ciudad sin la ansiedad de atrevesar una rampa en espiral! Visitamos el teatro greco-romano, un sitio muy impresionante y con vistas sobre el mar, Etna y las montanas. Entramos en su catedral y algunas de sus iglesias. Almorzamos en una Enoteca con tienda de quesos y jamones: ahi probamos tres vinos y disfrutamos de un buen plato de sus productos: me gusto especialmente su queso ricotta con miel. Bajamos en el teleferico y anduvimos por la playa antes de regresar al 'Maison Blanche'. Leimos en la terraza en la sala. Disfrutamos de un picnic en la sala desierta.
