A 2016 photo of 17-18 High Street, Northwood where Joseph had his Butcher's shop

1846. Joseph Mitchell must die Isle of Wight Jun 1846 . He was buried in the Congregational Chapel, Ventnor . This seems odd: his wife still alive and Ventnor is about 23 k S of Northwood - just possble he was living with his daughter, Ann Hansford, in Ventnor, but, even so, the Hansford Upholstery business also extended to Funerals, so should not have been difficult to bury him back north in Northwood

SACRED
to the
Memory of
JOSEPH MITCHELL
Who departed this life
June 1[..] [1846 ?]
In the 59th Year of his age.

Chris Brown has seen this grave- unable to get a better photo.
The Congregational Church was built in the High Street in 1836. It is not known when it was demolished (sometime in the latter part of the 20th C). A number of the headstones remain, in the corner of the Central Car Park. His daughter, then Ann Hansford, died 1853 and was also buried in the Congregational Chapel- are the graves side by side?
