Children of Thomas Gresham & Ellen Jane Northcote
There is only the one photo we have of Dorothy as a little girl with her mother Ellen Gresham nee Northcote. We dont even have a wedding photo when Dorothy married or Ellen Northcote married Thomas Gresham. Im sure there must've been one somewhere in the family. One of the Greshams who live in Auckland, a Betty Gresham, who was the daughter of Arthur Seilyard Gresham, I believe had a portrait of Isabella Northcote nee McNeill but i've not had any luck getting anything out of them in spite of sharing all my information with various members!! Betty died in the last year or 2 at age of 100 or near. Its very frustrating and its possible they have other stuff as well as Hugh and Dorothy's 2 unmarried sisters left most of their stuff to Betty.
What I do have a copy of is a very old photo album which belonged to Thomas and Ellen Gresham. Unfortunately the photos are all unnamed but i can see some of them are Thomas. I can send it to you if you like. The original belongs to Jeff and Chris Holland sons of June Holland who was Garnet gresham's daughter.
Although you say wealthy people usually had photos and I agree, I believe Thomas and Ellen were probably not wealthy when their family were young as he'd gone bankrupt in England and they had to start again here in NZ.
I dont know whether Dorothy had any more family photos as after she died Thomas McFarlane married again. His 3 children with Dorothy went to live with Garnet Gresham and his wife Nina in Auckland as Thomas was a surveyor on great Barrier Island and was away alot. They did see him and Connie and their daughter Shirley but never lived with them as a family.

1903. Dorothy I Gresham, a teacher, married Thomas McFarlane on 29/7/1903. They had 3 children: Joyce 1904; Hector 1906 & Kenneth C 1912

This was taken about 1915 or 16 about 3 years before Dorothy fell off a tram and died.
1918/9. She fell off a tram and died 3/5/1918/9. She died in Auckland Hospital but the family was living at 6 Clovernook Rd Newmarket at the time of her death.. Family Bible gives her death as 1918
Hector McFarlane lived in Mountsville for 2 years with his Uncle Hugh for 2 years after leaving school and worked in the building trade with him
