1853. James Pinkerton, aged 19, enlisted in the RIC, height 5' 10'', number 17088. He was posted to Wicklow 1853, then Kilkenny, then Leitrim, Dublin in 1862, Belfast in 1877- for just 6 mths- and back to Dublin 1877. At end of his record states that he was not promoted- - several records of his service on FMP RIC Records & RIC Pensions;

1862. James Pinkerton married Catherine Arnold on 12/8/1862 in the Presbyterian church of Carrigallen, Leitrim. He a sub constable. His address Ballyborough, hers Leganamer. His father Wm Pinkerton, baker: hers Robert Arnold, baker

1927. James Pinkerton died on 16/8/1927 - Robertson Ancestry tree . No obituary on FMP Irish Newspapers . Aged 93, Balrothery -Irish Civil Records- could order. Balrothery ~30 k N of Dublin, just south of Balbriggan . Buried Swords Churchyard
