His 1855 joining papers for the City Limerick Militia, mentioned below., do not give his father

~1840. Timothy Hailes was born in Mallow, Cork- this from his 1890 pension record, and he was also living in Mallow 1854-1855, for the year before je joined up . No church baptism record all Cork for Timothy Hailes, Haile, Hales, Hale 1837-1843, but this early for many church records! BUT

1837. Ty Hales was baptised to Wm Hales & Margaret Callaghan on 22/2/1837 in Mallow- Ancestry & FS , so Timothy must have lied about his age when he joined up as a Trumpeteer in 1855

is his Army Service Record: he joined up, as a trumpeteer, in Limerick , age 15 yrs, 5 mths, on 25/7/1855, having spent the previous 12 months in Mallow, his birthplace . No mention of his next of kin. Was discharged, in consequence of repayment of his enlistment expenses??, on 12/11/1890. Conduct had been Very Good.

1858. Timothy Hailes married Margaret Connell, in St Mary's Limerick a Catholic ceremony, on 29/8/1858 - from the Lamb Ancestry tree- Irish Catholic Registers:these available in Ancestry on a specific search!

1868. Joseph Hailes was born 2/3/1868 at Windmill Street, Limerick. Father 'Transport Major in City Artillery' . Died, aged 3, in 1871

1870. Margaret Hailes was born 11/1/1870 at Windmill Street Limerick. Father 'sergeant in City Limerick Artillery'

1871. Joseph Hailes was born 20/11/1871 in Colony Street Limerick . Killed on 1/9/1915, a Corporal in the RAOC

1874 Walter Hailes was born 6/8/1874 at Thomasgate Limerick. He died 1954 in Croydon - Lamb Ancestry tree: Owner, Linda, directly descended from Timothy, via Walter 1874

1877. Alfred Timothy Hailes was born 4/3/1877 at Thomasgate Limerick. He died 13/1/1878 of bronchitis

1880. Charles Hailes was born 8/6/1880 at Thomasgate, Limerick to Timothy Hailes, staff City Limerick Artillery, & Margaret Connell

1890. A pension record exists for him . Sergt. Timothy Hailes, 49, born Mallow, Cork, had worked for ~30 years in Limerick City. Age here would indicate a birth ~ 1840

1891.On 27/11/1891 Timothy Hailes filed a complaint against his wife for 'Assault on him, using violent, abusive & threatening language'. No result given, but he had died - of pneumonia - within 6 weeks of this!

Timothy Hailes, and Margaret his wife, erected a memorial to their children in the C of I graveyard of St. Munchins Church

The graveyard contains many interesting stone grave markers & table-tombs dating from the 18th & 19th century

1892. Timothy Hailes, 54, married, clerk , died 5/1/1892 Castle Street, Limerick. Age here would indicate a birth ~ 1838. He died of pneumonia .Battery Sergt.Major Timothy Hailes gave probate of £79 to his 2nd son, Robert James Hailes, P.O clerk, he being the chief beneficiary

1922. His widow, aged 80, of 1 Lough Villas Cork, died in Cork District Hospital, sadly no relationship known, informant from the Cork Union
