Janet Baxter 1789-1866
1789. Janet Baxter was baptised 23/8/1789 Dunfermline to Charles Baxter, coal miner, & Janet Penman - these names on SP record & on her 1866 dc . 1861C states she, Janet Baxter, was born Auchterderran- this 16 k NE of Dunfermline! , and all her siblings 1788-1803 were baptised there!
Cannot find a marriage for her parents 1765-1789. Auchterderran is where Janet dies in 1866
1818. A Janet Baxter, daut of Wm Baxter, lab, residing Infirmary Street, married John McQuilkan , labourer, Pleasance Rd 45, 22/5/1818 in St Cuthberts, Edinburgh- FMP. . Purchased this entry and would appear to say her father was Wm. Baxter!, residing at Infirmary Street. There are 2 St Cuthberts in Edinburg, one Catholic, one not- so not problem here
Her parents could have married in Edinburgh, but father of Janet incorrect- so either this is a mistake, or we have the wrong marriage: Pn the total evidence I have, I am beginning to think this m.c is confusing, but it is theirs
