Sally/Sarah Ashworth 1803-1873

1803 A Sally Ashworth was baptised to George & Sarah Ashworth, abode Prestwich, in St Mary the Virgin, Prestwich 5/5/1803 -IGI . & a George Ashworth was baptised to a George & Mary back in 1794. Only marriage found of a George to a Sarah is in Rochdale - ~10 miles away - in 1795 to a Sarah Isherwood

1821.Sally Ashworth marries Gideon Coope, joiner, 20/9/1821 in Prestwich with Oldham. This is certainly to Gideon younger - their son, George, called a son born in 1856, Booth Ashworth Coope . This was/is all a bit confusing, as Gideon elder , widower, marries a Sarah Hope in 1815, and she gets called Sally in the 1841C: whilst Sally here gets called Sarah in the censuses! - but the marriages are certainly as I have them! Gideon could write, his wife not.

1828. A Gideon Coope appears as a Builder & Joiner, Rooden Lane, Prestwich in Pigots 1828 National Directory, North England & North Wales - this could be her husband or his father

1830. George Coope was born to parents Gideon Coope & Sarah/Sally Ashworth in Broxton, Cheshire.Baptised as George Coop to Gideon Coop & Sally Ashworth on 26/12/1830 in the Congregational , Tattenhall, Cheshire - IGI. Tattenhall ~ 3m N of Broxton, 8 m se of Chester.

1841C Sarah Coope, 35, is living with her husband & 9 children at Bolton Road, Dean, Farnworth.

1851C Sarah Coope, 48, is living with her husband & 9 children at Bank House, Bank Street, Farnworth

1860. Gideon Coope dies, 2/4/1860, aged ~59, joiner & builder, in Farnworth, leaving effects of <£2000. Executor was Sarah Coope, widow
