~1780-1786, Born. Seemingly too difficult to search as we do not know which county she was born in. No Wilson seemingly born with a mother Speirs
Also called Heleanor Wilson & Ellen Wilson at times.
1803 Helen Wilson married William Houstoun 31/7/1803, Renfrew
They had 7 children - from SP - baptised in Renfrew 1804-1820: William 1804, Thomas 1806, Alexander 1808, John 1810, Hannah 1813- who married 1839 FS, Helen 1815, Margaret Speirs 1820
The name Speirs would suggest that an ancestor had the maiden name of Speirs.- as unable to find this on the Houston side, this leaves it as a clue for the ancestors of Helen Wilson
1841C an Ellen Houston, 55, - thus born 1782-1786, is living Fulbar Street, Renfrew, with Thomas Houston 30, cotton HLW, & family, and Alexander Houston 25 . This is almost certainly our Helen Wilson with 2 sons . This would imply her husband had died.
| Thomas Houston | 30 | Cotton H L W | b. Renfrewshire |
| Agnes Houston | 26 | not b. Renfrewshire | |
| William Houston | 10 | b. Renfrewshire | |
| Agnes Houston | 8 | b. Renfrewshire | |
| Ellen Houston | 4 | b. Renfrewshire | |
| Alexander Houston | 2 | b. Renfrewshire | |
| Alexander Houston | 25 | Labourer | b. Renfrewshire. Probably a brother |
| Ellen Houston | 55 | Independent | not b. Renfrewshire Probably mother of Thomas. Could be 55-59 |
1851C. Not living with Thomas . But, there is a Margaret Houston, 62, widow, b. Renfrew, tambourer, living in Fulbar Street, but no other Houstons there. A Tambourer is an Embroiderer using hoops to hold the cloth. Doubt whether this could be Ellen - since there is a 60yr old Margaret Houston in 1841C. But what is interesting here is that she is living Fulbar Street.
So Helen Houston/Wilson probably died 1841-1851.
Seemingly no deaths on SP 1851-1861.
