James Muir ~1765 -<1841
There are 23 Mure marriages 1689-1722 in Campbeltown - SP. & 47 Muir marriages 1740-1788 . Thes include a Robert Muir marrying Agnes Fisher in 1750: these could well be James' parents. But cannot find a baptism, There are also 50 Muir births 1760-1770
Little is known of him . He was a shipwright - this from the 1873 d.c. of his son Robert 1795.
1787.James Muir married Mary Duncan 26/10/1787 in Campbelltown Argyll.
They had the following known children: Janet Muir 1788 baptised Campbelltown, John Muir 1791 baptised Greenock, James Mure 1793, Robert Mure 1795 & Thomas Mure 1798, the last 3 all baptised Ardrossan . So he obviously moved his place of work as a shipwright. A big move from the peninsula of Argyll across to Greenock.

I cannot find him in the 1841C, so presumably he died before this date. . But his widow might still be alive - see her page
There is a John Muir, quarrier, b.1796 in Argyll, living in Campbeltown in 1841C . No other elderly Muirs nor Mures there in this census.
Robert Muir son
