1911C. Ethel - mistranscription, actually entered as Hester - Marie Shattock, 11,b. Aberdare, is living 47 Park Place, Gelligaer, Glam- 5 rooms- with her parents, he a haulers contractor- own account, 4 siblings and Thomas Higgs, 52 - he her uncle, the eldest brother of her mother .

Think Doris was actually born at Gilfach Bargoed - this ~ 2 k NE of Gelligaer

1912-~1914. Hestor moved with her family from Gelligaer to Trethomas/Bedwas. Electoral Roll Books 1911-1914 - held in the local archives- might pinpoint the move . Her siblings born 1914 & 1917 were registered 'Newport' & this includes Bedwas but not Gelligaer . Gelligaer ~15 k NNW of Bedwas - so a considerable move.
1921.Hestor Maria Shattock, 21, married Harold Ennis Gosling 24, 1/8/1921, at Bedwas Church. He a baker, address Scalands Ty Fry [rd.]Rumney, her address 11 Lower Glyn Gwyn Street, Trethomas. His father James Gosling a machine worker,wood, & hers Christopher John Shattock a colliery Service Foreman. Witnesses Albert Edward Gosling, an older brother of Harold, b. 1881 & Christopher John Shuttock, her father. Karen North has researched the Shattock ancestry. Bedwas is north of Caerphilly, say 25 miles from Cardiff. It was thought to be the childhood home of Esther/Hetty- but she was only there after 1911 at the earliest - Trethomas just E of Bedwas . She was working in the shop there, -Was it his baker's shop?? - and this is how Harold met her

1929 Thelma E Gosling was born at .Lower Glyn Gwyn Street, Trethomas, the home of Hester's parents, Louisa & Christopher, in March,1929 Jun 1929 Newport M . It appears that Hester and Harold had marital difficulties around this time and did indeed separate for a while before Anne's birth in 1939.

Trethomas, Bedwas was where Esther had grown up after 1911, and it is thought that she returned to her parents for the births of their first two daughters. Harold & Esther were living in a terraced house in Rumney by the early 20s, moving to Essex.House, Wentloog Road, Rumney, Cardiff by 1939.
