He recalls visiting her, in a ground floor flat. The river passed at the end of her road, in the heart of dock lands - next to a pub.

Rhoda would be making meals while Thomas was in bed. Bed ridden for years before he died. Census shows he was incapacitated

His Aunt Mary (Joseph’s sister) lived a few roads away and he used to see her on visits.
