Trollfjiord & Narvik

Sunday, June 12th . Trollfjord and Narvik

Up by 6.30 so as not to miss the ship sailing through thr narrows on the Trollfjiord: this was an hour later and was quite spectacular, the fog lifting serendipitously. I mainly watched it from the comfort of the Observation lounge

. Breakfast was followed by a talk on Albatrosses by Peter. Then a quick Trivia after Martin gave us all tea-shirts. Recap and Briefing for the afternoon and Monday. First into the Terraza for lunch and a swim before going ashore( the ship was docked) in Narvik for the coach and Ofoten train tour to the Swedish border. This had its problems:  no AC, no air and heaters unable to be turned off, so we were all roasting, whilst an awful guide just spouted on and on in poorish English!. Almost a mutiny and Daniel just stayed quiet. Anyway we arrived at the train station in Sweden and had a short walk. Then got on the train at 4.10, being careful to avoid wagon 50 where’the guide said he would be talking . Unfortunately others followed us and so did he, invading our peace with his shouted prattles: I lost it but Sarah found out and calmed me down!. We moved carriages and then stood up , enjoying the wondrous scenery.

The Captain's farewell was poorly attended,. Dined  in the restaurant and had a long chat with a couple from Wittering.
