Lunga & Iona
Another early morning visit to Lunga but this time we were in the second Zodiac group. Went ashore about 7.15 . The cobbled beach landing did not seem quite so difficult. Then encountered a wee bird struggling on the path, so I stood guard over it whilst David went to find a member of the Expedition staff; eventually Bernardo arrived, but I think the chick was almost dead by then. Saw the puffins and the guillemots as before, but not quite so striking as before as the sun had not reached the puffins. David had forgotten his camera this time. . Got back aboard in time for breakfast. Sunbathed up on deck for a while. Then went ashore at Iona before 11. Bought a puffin in a shop where the assistant tried to put the Boyzz through the till as well!!. Then walked to the north end of the island, through fields with sheep, then down to a sandy beach. Got back to the jetty where we waited 20 minutes for a zodiac just before 2. Click on any thumbnail photo and get a larger photo
Lunched in Hot Rocks, had a swim, washed my hair, played Trivia and got 15/15!, then enjoyed champagne and a sandwich with David. Recap and Briefing, lime daiquiri and canapés, then dinner in the restaurant On to Skye |
