Dad had a Wolseley car quite early on after the war - 1947?- and I can remember at least a couple of outings to Widford: the journey itself seemed to take for ever!, but it would be less than an hour today. Pett was my grandmother's younger sister and seemd such a happy person in comparison, as was Uncle Billy. We had sumptuous teas there. They lived in a picturesque cottage, a semi, with an outdoor loo and beautiful garden. Further down their lane was a level crossing and we loved watching the steam trains go past. Sh
