1791. A John Hesp was baptised on 7/10/1791, Weaverthorpe to Robert Hesp & Mary - Ancestry Select Births & Christenings 1538-1975 . Weaverthorpe only 2k E of East Lutton, which he gave as his birthplace in at least 2 censuses

1821. John Hespe could have married Elizabeth Ezard on 7/2/1821 in Weaverthorpe . Both put their mark - FMP . But equally well he could have married an Elizabeth Farnaby on 9/12/1820 Weaverthorpe Yorkshire, witnesses Richard Ireland & Ralph Harrison - FMP - this is his wife according to Murray Hesp: no b.cs.availabe for any of their children, so cannot check this way. Are there any parish m.cs that give the name of the groom's father??- I do not think so. And no baptism found for either of these Elizabeths on FMP nor on FS . Have searched for baptisms for each of them- none ~1789

Footnote; a Murray Hesp 1931- son of a half great uncle, William Roy Hesp 1894, of David's & Laura's has spent years in the past researching the Hesps: - he wrote a book ' The Beginnings ' - never published. The following was in this - from Laura :

The earliest notation in one of his books of trees (there are 2) is:
Robert Hespe (no birth date)   (lived at West Heslerton, Yorkshire, England)
He married Anna Medd, Feb. 8, 1669.     Robert died June 11, 1718.    Anna died Oct. 29, 1734

They had 4 children:
New Yeare Hespe, Baptised Jan 1, 1673, died Dec. 20, 1766,  married May 5, 1702 to Jane Loocuppe  (of Wintringham)

Mary Hespe, Baptised Oct. 24, 1676, died May 19, 1679

John Hespe, Baptised Aug 31, 1679, died Dec. 10 1679   (They lost 2 children that year!)

Helen Hespe, Baptised Oct. 4, 1683

Newyeare Hespe's name is in the registers as "Newyeare" "Newyear" "Neuworke" and "Neuwork".
He was by trade a "carpinta"

New Yeare and Jane went on to have 7 children but only 1 of them lived to adulthood. This was Robert Hespe, born  Jan 11, 1704

Robert Hesp 1704 married Mary Ringrose

Robert & Mary had Robert Hesp 17xx?

Robert Hesp 17xx married a Mary Unknown.

Robert & Mary had John Hesp 7/10/1791 Weaverthorpe

Life was hard in those days.    The "Beginnings" book has 159 pages of stories about the family but it was never published for public sale.   A tremendous amount of work was put into it.

Murray Hesp has also written several local history books on the Caledon- Bolton area of Ontario

Did Robert Hesp 1704 have a son Robert, who was maybe the father / grandfather of John Hesp 1791 ??? West Heslerton just 6 k NW of Weaverthorpe & 6 k NNW of East Lutton . There are Hesps in the Wintringham parish records too - these available online
