John Street 1816 - 1886 father of a John Street ~1838

I am not certain that I have the correct John Street here, maybe only an 80% chance that I have. I have traced the family back to John Street 1838 but, unfortunately, 2 John Streets exist, seemingly born in almost the same place and within a year of one another- think the 14 year old must have been born 1837 just before July & thus not on BMD . And both with father John - so 1867 m.c.of John Street to Fanny Oates will not help identify which John is ours

~1816. John Street was baptised in Damerham, Hampshire to Martha Street, single woman, on 23/6/1816- FMP . Damerham is ~8m.S of Salisbury, so must be about on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border & also close to Dorset to its west . No baptism on IGI

 

1837. John Street married Elizabeth Wentworth on 20/11/1837 at St Martin Salisbury - IGI. No baptism for her 1810-1820 on IGI. And wonder what it would say for his non-existent father??. No Elizabeth Wentworth on Ancestry trees

John Street, bachelor, gardener, marries Elizabeth Wentworth, on 20/11/1837. Both residing Milford Street, his father - invented! - is given as John Street, labourer, hers Henry Wentworth, cordwainer. Both put their mark, as did the witnesses, Isaac and Sarah Archer

1838. John Street was born to John & Elizabeth in Milford Street, Salisbury - same address so I have the correct b.c.

1841C. A John Street. aged 3, is living with parents John & Elizabeth at Milford- would appear to be a part of Salisbury very close to Stratford Subcastle. If this is he, then his father, John Street, likely married Elizabeth Wentworth Salisbury Dec 1837 - BMD. .

1861C. Cannot find either John or Elizabeth Street on FMP nor on Ancestry . Nor,probably, did I locate son John 1838

1871C. John Street , 55, gardener, b. Damerham, is living West End, Fisherton Anger, Aldersbury, with wife Elizabeth, 60, b. West Harnham - this the SW part of Salisbury

1881C. John Street , 65, gardener, b. Damerham, is living Finchley Cottages, Fisherton Anger, Aldersbury, with wife Elizabeth, 73, b. West Harnham. Do not know why 'Dormham' has been classified as Dorset!: see note on it up above 1816
