Will of Jane Penrose, dated 11 December 1742

In the name of God Amen. I Jane Penrose of the parish of Redruth in the County of Cornwall Widow being Of sound and disposing Mind Memory and understanding Praised be Almighty God Do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in Manner and Forme following. First I Bequeath my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God my Creator hopeing for pardon and forgiveness of all my Sins in and through the Meritts and Mediation of my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ and my Body to the Earth to be decently Enterred at the Discre- tion of my Executor herein after named. As to my Wordly Goods I Dispose thereof as Followeth.
First. I will that all my Just Debts which I shall owe unto any Person or persons at the time of my Decease be well and Truly Contented and Paid within Convenient time.
Item. I Give and Bequeath unto my Son John Penrose All that House and Promises lyeing and being in the Towne Of Redruth wherein I now live with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging during Terme? I have therein together with all my Household Goods which now I am or hereafter Shall be possessed of at the time of my Decease. I also give to my said Son John Penrose all that my Two and Thirtyeth part in Two and Thirty parts to be Devided of and in all those Ad- venture or Adventures Copper Works and Mettall Works commonly Called or known by the Name or Names of Wheal Sparnon Corner, Bolsarry, Wheal vor Poulgartiss Whealjohnharry and Wheal Widden and the like part also of and all Other my Adventures Copper Works Mettal Works and Tynn Works belonging or Appertaining or Reputed Deemed or taken to belong and Appertain to the Adit Set of Wheal Sparnon and included therein Scituate lying and being in the parish of Redruth aforesaid dureing the Several Term or Terms therin Granted by the Lord or Lords of the Soil and by Owner and Owners of the Several and Respective Tinn Bounds wherein the same are Situate lyeing and being together with all Tools Tackle Implements and Materials to the said Two and Thirtyeth part Belonging or Appertaining.
Item I Give unto my Son Richard Penrose the Sum of Five Pounds
Item I Give unto my Son Arthur Penrose the Sum of Five Pounds
Item I Give unto my Daughter Jane Gray Widow the Sum of One Shilling and I also give her my wearing Apparell of all Sorts both Linnen and Woolen
Item I Give unto my Grandchildren each and every of the One Shilling to be paid within Three Months next after my Decease
All the Rest of my Goods and Chattels moveable and immoveable ready Money and all other my Personal Estate of what Nature or kind soever the same be I Give and Bequeath unto my said Son John Penrose he paying all my just Debts Legacys and Funeral Charges and I do hereby make and Appoint my said Son John Penrose Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and Annulling all other and former Wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto putt my hand and Seal this Eleventh Day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and forty Two.

The herewritten Will was Proved in Common forme the 6th. Day of September 1746 Before the Revd. Mr. Wm Wadden Clerke Mr. of Arts Official et. And Admion of the Goods et. Of the said Deced and of all things howsoever Concerning her said Will was Granted to the Executor therin named (being first Sworne et.) Saveing et. No (?): Exhited/
The before written Will is a True Coppy of the last Will and Testament of the above named Jane Penrose Examined and Compared with the Original this 18th.Day of September 1746. By us.
