Thomas Boyce 1817 - 1902
Thomas Boyce was baptised 5/1/1817 in St Cuthberts, Wells, Somerset, to William Boyce & Jane Coles- FS : the 1851C says he was born Wells - Mells does not exist - and he calls his first child William.
Have now - 5/7/2014 - Ancestry Family trees - found conflicting facts about his parents being a William Boyce & Ann Varley, married and first child, 1816, in London- I am not convinced!. But also, excitedly, on the Kibblewhite Tree, have found a photo of his gravestone: sent them a message through Ancestry

1850. Robert Boyce was born Bridgewater Jun 1850
1851C. Thomas Boyce, 31,brick layer labourer, b. Mells??, was living with his wife and 5 children at West Street, Bridgwater . Looking at the original census entry, I am fairly sure he was born Wells . But a Mells does indeed exist ~10 m e E of Wells, near Frome. All subsequent censuses give him born Bridgewater, which agrees with neither Wells nor Mells but was where he was living and where all his children were born.

1867. His wife, recorded as Jemima Boys, aged 49, dies Bridgwater Sep 1867. Buried 5/8/1867. A headstone exists for her, her husband died 1902 and son John 1848-1941. Thomas is left with 3 children under 10, but also 7 aged 10-26 who would have taken over the running of the house
