A James Bannerman possessed the St Andrew's Tavern, Banff, up to 1829 . Also a James Bannerman, Aberdeen MD professor of medicine , dies 1838 - FMP Newspapers

In the Family History written by Charles Raeburn 1876-1955, it says "little is known about Eliza except that she came of well to do people. It was likely her money that paid for the Banff property, for the property in Macduff- that of Charles Raeburn 1770??- remained in the family till ~1920 "

1838. Eliza Bannerman, of Banff parish, married William Raeburn , merchant, Macduff, parish of Gamrie, on 3/6/1838 in Banff parish church Banff-Ancestry & SP . bought this off SP but does not tell me her parents

1839.Charles Raeburn baptised to William & Eliza in Banff 21/5/1839 - FMP

1841C. Eliza Raeburn is living High Street Banff with her husband and first son

William Raeburn Male 30 1811 Banffshire, Scotland
Eliza Raeburn Female 25 1816 Banffshire, Scotland
Charles Raeburn Male 2 1839 Banffshire, Scotland
Margaret McPherson Female 15 1826 Banffshire, Scotland

Margaret McPherson is - just possibly?? - her half sister: her possible father , James Bannerman, reportedly died 1816, but no such death on SP!, and above Ancestry tree has her mother, Ann Stables, remarrying Robert McPherson on 10/9/1817- and he died 1834. But 3 baptisms for a Margaret Mcpherson, NONE to Robert, and anyway, no marriage of a James Bannerman to Ann Stables!!

1842. . William Raeburn baptised to William & Eliza in Banff on 4/1/1842, born 22/12/1841 -FS

Seemingly no other children

1841-1851. Eliza Raeburn dies, but no record of it on SP

But the Family History, & her grave, says she died, aged 30, 23/9/1844.. Buried in the Old Churchyard, Banff

eliza-grave

"The children were brought up by a housekeeper servant who lived to a great age, looked after by Charles 1839 and remembered by his son Charles 1876 as a frail old lady living on endless cups of strong black tea and forever knitting stockings"
