Commercial clerk, born Salford of Irish parents, married a girl from Co. Louth in England, then went to Dublin in ~ 1898
1862. John Conmey was born to John Conmey, tailor, and Mary McDermott at 14 Lead Yard Stockport on 8/4/1862. Both his parents were from Ireland, his mother from Mayo
Certificate applied for in 1881!- was he starting a job somewhere, aged ~19??- quite old to start as a railway clerk, which he was in April 1881
Also interesting that Paul possesses this, 140 years later!!- presumably in the papers that his mother, John's granddaughter, Kathleen Hynes, left on her death in 2010.
1871C. On Ancestry children from Mary downwards transcribed as Conmey. Family living Back of Mandsley Street, Gt. Bolton - & in fact, looking at the original, all the entries say Conmey!!

This would appear to be written by him as an 8 year old, presumably at St Patrick's school on Christmas Eve!- somewhere, sent away because he was giving trouble?? There was then a school attached to St Patrick's Church in Bolton. Interesting that he does not mention his father- rather suggests that his father, & also at least 2 of his older sisters, aged ~ 14 and 16, are not contributing enough money to the household

1891. John Conmey married Kate Keegan on 22/1/1891 in the Church of the Mother of God and St. James, Church Street, ?Pendleton? Salford Mar 1891. His father John Conmey, tailor, deceased: hers Patrick Keegan, police officer. His address 31 Devonshire Street, Pendleton: hers Netherleigh, Beeston, Nottingham. This a house of some importance- lived in by the medic William Robert Smith around 1900 . Witnesses Peter & Kate Conmey- his siblings .

Children were: Mary F Conmey Salford 1892; Kathleen M Conmey Salford 1895; Florence Maud J Conmey 28/9/1898 at 8 Carlingford Terrace, Drumcondra, father a commercial clerk, mother Kate Josephine Keegan; & John Charles Edward Conway 14/2/1902, father a clerk, mother Kathleen Keegan at 40 Millmount Avenue- no civil birth record found
Between 1895 and 1898 John & Kate moved from Salford to Dublin

No baptism found for Florence/John Conmey on R.C. Baptisms Dublin Irish Genealogy!! But civil birth record for Florence 1898 Dublin North but not one for John
1914. Catherine Conmey/Keegan, 49, dies 8 St Teresas Rd Dublin North of cancer - his wife
1916. His son Charles John Conmey ( record states John Conmey of St Teresa's Rd as his father) is discharged in May/Nov 1917, for being underage ( and a horse had trod on his toe!) - had joined up as 18 yrs 9 months ( whereas only 14 years 9 months!) in Dec 1916 in Liverpool
1931. John Conmey, 65, retired clerk, widower, dies 16/4/1931 Dublin North at 8 St Teresas Road, Glasnevin- age 4 years out! Informant Kathleen Hynes,- his daughter- 103 Botanic Road, Glasnevin. Cause of death: Chronic Gout Morbus Cordis Syncope ??? No probate
