1921. 28/5/1921 Frances Norah Crombleholme was born to Francis Crombleholme & Gertrude Brookhouse W. Bromwich Staffs . She was their 2nd child: sister Eileen had been born 18/12/1919
1924. Her mother? peticions for divorce - files in the National Archives. Daughter Frances was put in an orphanage around this time. Also probably her sister Eileen
"Eileen and Frances were sent to the orphanage after Gertrude’s separation/divorce. Frances – she likes us to call her Anne – says they were there from 1923 until 1927, until their mother’s second marriage. She also says that the orphanage was in Sunbury on Thames. An organisation called the Good Templars and Temperance Society ran this orphanage; it had a very strong presence in Birmingham at the time and Gertrude would have had to take the oath of temperance to be able to use it for her children. There is a fair bit of info on the web about the place!" Maximum of 60 children 3-12. Meant to have at least one parent dead.
