There were a lot of things going on in the area at that sort of time but the main work for a navvy in 1850 was the New Cut, a realignment of the river.
I was always told that there were hundreds of navvies who dug it by hand but I have yet to find hard evidence for how it was actually carried out!
1852. Eliza Aris was baptised Tingewick 4/7/1852 to Thomas & Mary -Ancestry. So she seemingly born in Brackley Workhouse in March 1851 & then the family returned to Tingewick
