James Lang and Jean Mcallester had : Isobel 1749, Robert 1753 & Katharine 1762, all baptised Dumbarton - FS

James Lang is mentioned in the 1839 testament of William Latta, the son of his daughter Katharine: William Latta was stated as the nearest in kin to a James Lang, ship carpenter.

But can find no Testament of a James Lang , ship carpenter, dying 1780-1837. There is a James Lang, ship master of Carronshore, Larbert [ some 50 miles east of Dumbarton] - heard in Stirling - very unlikely to be he.

2 deaths for James Lang in Dumbarton, 1784 & 1788, Robert Lang being another name on both dcs - on SP, not purchased either. Katharine Lang marries James Latta in 1781, so either of these deaths could be her father .

FS has a James Lang born 1748 to William Lang & Mary Stirling in Kirkintilloch Dunbarton dying 1827
