Ancestry trees, including the Brigdens of Hadlow & Chiddingstone - did not help me apart from going back 2 more generations !

Thomas Brigden 1770 was born to Thomas Brigden & Anne Philips
Thomas Brigden 1742-1778 was also born Hadlow to a Thomas Brigden

No Kent marriage for Robert Brigd*n on Ancestry marriages 1809-1819!! or on FMP
1815~. Robert Brigden married Elizabeth Smith - from Ancestry trees!. No such marriage on FMP or Ancestry: suspicious of 'Smith' : this on an Ancestry tree
1816 A Robert Brigden married Elizabeth Hubbard on 15/4/1816 in Wrotham, Kent : this a long way, ~28k, from Staplehurst! - FMP, image available
Staplehurst is ~25 k SE of Hadlow, 10 k S of Maidstone. Hadlow ~ 10 k S of Wrotham
If Elizabeth Hubbard were his 1816 wife , then he married in Wrotham and almost immediately lived in Staplehurst, certainly from later on in 1816 until 1844, when Elizabeth died there Then he remarried back up in Wrotham in 1845 and was living Hadlow by 1861.
Could this be explained by Elizabeth Hubbard being of Wrotham and he of Staplehurst??, but then why did he remarry in Wrotham.?? Alternatively, he was of Wrotham and Elizabeth Hubbard was from Staplehurst??: but usual to marry in the bride's parish and then live in the groom's parish!!
He was actually born in Hadlow
