Life at Javea Bridge Club 2011

March was the exciting month when Bridge Pads were introduced, alongside pre-dealt hands on all days. Some teething problems -avoided by those on holiday in Peru! - but by April it was just the scoring that had to be mastered fully!

Wednesday April 13th saw the all day, back aching, Pairs Championship. 23 pairs took part, with Brenda & Gary Wood deservingly taking the Cup. Edmonde & Hans were very close runners-up. Trish & I were 5th.

Then, following close on, Saturday April 16th saw the biannual Teams Championship between JSBSC & the Vallees Bridge Club. . JSBSC managed to win the imaginary cup back, and enjoyed the usual superb tea provided.

Tuesday May 10th saw the annual Lena Whiteley Tournament - to determine the best student pair- on the day anyway!! - from those students in their first or second year of studies.

Jean Threlfall had been teaching the 2nd years and our president Ed Morley & Chris Threlfall the first years.

9 pairs took part, 4 from the first year and 5 from the second. Sally Simeoni & Eddie Foran won. Una O'Connor & Stuart Norris came second. .. . . . Club members formed the opposition , and allowed Ed, with his long suffering wife Jane, to win!
