Portland Maine
Berthed around 9am. Went ashore 45 minutes later for the Tour of the bay and Fort Scammel outing: a pleasant ride of around 30 minutes with 15 of us in a roomy boat.
The fort had been built for the 1812 war and used again in the Civil War in 1861. We went through a dark tunnel to the gun emplacements that protected the harbour from any enemy. Today there were a few tourist yurts on the island. Then we had a tasty chowder, followed by a famous, but tasteless!, lobster roll at DeMillos.: a Maine Lobster, said to be the most flavorful lobster on Earth!!!

After this we walked back to the ship and I had a swim: the water temperature was well over 30 degrees!. Then a siesta before reading beside the pool. Then tea and Recap and Briefing. This followed by the Captain´s Farewell and Silver Cloud Crew Parade. Had beef wellington in the main dining room, followed by Cherries Jubilee
