Life in 2006

On February 5th 2006 my mother died, 5 days short of her 91st birthday. She had been in and out of hospital for several months, and I had tried desperately to get her back to Boughton in late January- but to no avail. Joanna was with her for a couple of days before she died ( an experience she found very distressing as Mum seemed only to want Hazel or me) , Hazel and Alice arrived at the hosptal just as she died . She was buried alongside Dad at the Old Cemetery, Boughton.

During the first few months of the year in Moraira we made trips to
1. Cuenca, with its wondrous hanging buildings and nearby Ciudad Encantada,
2. Lorca , staying in the small village of Rugat, and visiting Canar, home of June & Mike, on the way back to Moraira

Then we returned to Corisande via Galicia, staying first in Salamanca, then in an 'interesting' B & B near Ourense, then in Santiago de Compostela and finally in the charming fishing village of Cudillero, ~40 kms NW of Oviedo

Arriving back at Corisande before Easter- the Seeds being our first guests, arriving the day after we did! - we had a good season running the hotel, Enjoyed watching the annual Gannel Gig Race and also going to the Minack theatre.. And I, of course, had my almost daily swim in the Gannel from May onwards.

Closing the hotel in late September, a visit to Cafe Eleven and then David cycled from Seville to Santiago de Compostela very soon after our return to Spain.

In Novenber a trip was made to Jativa. On the morning to travel home we had to make a dash for the lower levels of the coast as it was snowing hard
.
We also flew back for Jamie's wedding to Cathy. The church service was at Minster Lovell and the reception at Eynsham Hall, where we stayed for a couple of nights. Christopher gave an impressive firework display after the reception.
