We spent 6 momths converting KFH into a hotel. Each winter we did more work, ending up with 22 rooms once we had moved to one of the cottages We opened at Easter 1981 with 7 bedrooms, all on the 1st floor of the main building: Plover, Robin, Kingfisher, Nightingale, Partridge, Skylark & Pheasant. At this time we had moved up the top floor, all in Eagle I think. The winter of 1981-1981 we did up the top 4 rooms: Eagle, Osprey, Kestrel & Falcon. During the week we occupied 3 of these, but on busy weekends and in high summer, we would all sleep in Osprey. Then during the winter of 1982-1983 we did up the one storey annex to the right of the front of the building. This gave us 3 ensuite rooms(for which we got a grant, but that was almost more trouble than it was worth!!) and a kitchenette area, rarely used. The following winter, 1983-1984, we created Swift & Swallow , above the kitchen & utility room. The next years, Chaffinch, Linnet & Wren were created above the garage and overlooking the church. Finally 3 rooms were created out of the old game rooms, Mallard, Heron & Curlew: these had a separate entrance and we allowed dogs in them.

About 1985 we installed a swimming pool, warmed by a heat exchange machine, in the woods to the left of the entrance, high up on the bank, hidden from the guests but with wondrous views over the Hall
