Paternity Case for 1876 birth of Annie Robb- David Gow named
A paternity case was heard in August 1878. David Gow, a farm servant, of North Pursey, Bendochy. He did not attend the hearing so was deemd 'confessed ' of being the father and ordered to pay £2 for the lying in; £7.10s for nursing, clothes & food for the child's first year; £6 /year until she was aged 12 . Payments to be made quarterly in advance, with interest payable on the back payments . A princely sum for a labourer to pay out!!!
