Muriel Easton Blaikie Scott 1918-2011

Born Dewsbury to a Textile Designer.

She thought her Scott family had lived in Whitehaugh, Hawick- but have yet to verify this: think it was a different James and John Scott who once owned it. Her cousin, Bill Crosby Scott, had done some research- his notes shown on the Whitehaugh page.

1928-1934, She went to Marlborough School, Dewsbury

~1935-1937. She trained as a nurse.

1937-1939. She was 2 years a nurse at the General Infirmary in Leeds- where she would have met her future husband

1939 Register. Muriel E B Hutton-Wilson(Cooke,Scott) was living at 3 Oxford Road, Dewsbury . She remarried John Hutton-Wilson in 1977

"The bride's father is a director of G & J. Stubley Ltd, Woollen Manufacturers, Batley & she is a granddaughter of Alderman . J. A. Parr, twice Mayor of Dewsbury. She was 2 years a nurse at the General Infirmary in Leeds. She wore a travelling dess of blue with wine accessories and orchids. There were no bridesmaids. The best man was Dr Ian McPherson, Leeds, RAMC - FMP Newspapers

After a honeymoon on the East Coast, they went to live at The Lodge, Tollerton, York, where her husband had taken a practice _ this would be November 1939

They had 3 sons, all registered as born York:

1. Richard Kilner Cooke b.1940, a farmer. He married Yvette Mattes b. 1955, on 18/9/1975/ They divorced in 2004. They had 2 children: Danielle Lucy Cooke 1981 and Dominic Kilner 1983, who in turn married a Swede, Emma Sunnebo 1981 in 2009, taking her surname after marriage!

2. Nigel James Cooke 1942.

3. Andrew Blaikie Cooke 1946, a solicitor in Hull . Married Bea Delmont 1958 from Bordeaux, who had been Au Pair to brother Nige & wife. Andrew & Bea had 2 children: Sophie Isabelle Cooke 1981 who married Neil Corbett in 2013 in Leeds Town Hall & Fiona Aurelie Cooke 1983 who married Greg Roberts in Beverley: 3 children- William Gilbert Roberts 2007, Margaret Ann (Daisy) Roberts 2008 and Arthur Roberts 2012

By sometime in 1940 Tom bought the practice in Kirkbymoorside where he remained until his death
