All I so far know is that in
1795. an Allan Gilfillan was baptised 7/6/1795 Gorbals, Lanark to William Gilfillan & Janet Buchanan.- FS, no other baptisms given to this couple. William Gilfillan was a handloom weaver - from 1857 d.c. of Allan . But censuses and his d.c. are unanimous in giving Allan a date of birth of 1791. So was he baptised several years after his actual birth, or is this a different Allan??- unlikely as both parents the same and Allan was also a handloom weaver.
