Monday, Oct ober 31st Ilhabela . Ilhabela Waterfalls tour
A short zodiac ride ashore in drizzle for the Ilhabela Waterfalls tour.We paddled through the puddles of the town of Ihlabela. In fact there was not a lot of the old town left, though the metal statue of Christ in front of the church was dramatic. The stainless steel statue was made in 2008 by Gilmar Pinna , who also has other statues around the island. Then we got into six people jeeps, being careful with whom we travelled! Thus us, Sylvain and Anike and a couple from Luxembourg climbed into one- away from complaining Americans! . We were first driven for 30 minutes, along a surburban shore side, to a beach where we were told we would have just a 30 minute stay. It had stopped raining by this stage, but no one ventured in for a swim. We enjoyed a walk along the beach and then David ordered a pina colada, but, as they had run out of pineapples, we eventually had, between us, a Caipirinha, very strong.

Eventually we left after over an hour and drove to the waterfalls, reached along the Pancada d'Agua trail. This is where David fell in - my that Caipirinha had been strong! . To get a better shot of one of the falls, he tottered along a rickety wooden plank, fell backwards off it, and landed on his back with his backpack under water. His camera was obviously immersed with him and Chris' camera was in the waterfilled backpack; they not surprisingly stopped working from the immersion. Happily, after gentle treatment with a hair drier back on board, and a wait of two days, they started to work again Dayo dressed his grazed arm. Then we drove back to the landing town and out the other side to a mundane beachside restaurant where we had a superb lunch, our 6 sharing a table.
. Back aboard before 4 and I had a swim. David found Meghan to see if she could do anything with the cameras, No, just wait and see, and he also had a chat with the guest relations director. Then Trivia and Recap and Briefing. Dined with Pippa and Ursula and looked at the Halloween celebrations in the Panorama lounge; completely over the top as regards quantity and it was far too noisy and crowded. We knew there was a large storm coming, , but Lea said just a slight swell!!
