The purpose of this trip was to collect David's Maltese driving licence ( replacing his British one and thus giving him a European one for driving in Spain: yet another fallout from Brexit!)

We had a lunch again at Browns, down near the cruise ship terminal. Still no cruise liners allowed into Malta due to Covid !

I went to Xemxija for Phyllis' weekly bridge session, followed by a good supper. The following week Phyllis and Mario came to Hilltop for lunch in our flat. And finally Hilltop Maintenace put our tiles up!

We went to Vittoriosa, to visit the Malta at War Museum; this was somewhat overcrammed, but the wartime shelter tunnels underneath it were poignant- this being the

start of Putin's attack on the Ukraine . Then we walked to Burgu and had a good lunch at Terrone's, with a Parisien waiter, Clement, with a great sense of humour

We walked to Traffic Malta twice for the driving licence;this finally landed in our post box 24 hours before our flight back on March 7th

Then we booked to go back there for a week from March 29th, as our S1 forms had finally arrived and we needed to present them to the Maltese authorities in order to be covered by the Maltese Health service in our dotage. Unfortunately, incredibly, . .we drove to the wrong airport for the flight!!! The Victoria parking man in Alicante had to point out the folly of our actions!!. So back home and booked the next flight, 7.30 pm from Valencia on March 31st. But the gods were agin us, and 3 km from Victoria parking Valencia, we ground to a standstill on the motorway, solid traffic, and remained stuck there for an hour!. Decided to still try for the flight: parking man was great and rushed us there, and we got to the checkin desk less than 15 mins before takeoff. Ryan Air staff also great, and we boarded a near empty plane. . And Friday morning we had our S1 forms processed at St Lukes hospital: hopefully the necessary documentation will be in our post box on our next visit.

Played bridge at Xemxija with Phyllis, Mario, Eileen & Jeannine , then a pleasant supper. I had a Somalian taxi driver and had to guide him there via spoken instructions on my mobile when he was hopelessly lost! : arrived half an hour late!!

Flew home on April 5th, managing to lose my glasses in the taxi,. The driver returned them to Hi;;top, so hopefully they will be in the flat when we return. Ordered new ones that afternoon in Moraira, and they arrived 2 days later
