An afternoon of bridge followed by a delicious supper is a regular event at Javea Bridge Club.  This week’s special tournament was arranged especially to celebrate a visit by the members of Barrow Bridge Club from Cumbria.  Making their fourth visit to Javea, the group enjoyed lots of good bridge throughout the week, playing at the four regular duplicate sessions as well as the special tournament on Thursday 26 September, 2019.  This year, the group of 14 keen bridge players stayed at the nearby Hotel Villa Naranjos, Javea.  When not playing bridge, they took advantage of the good weather sunbathing by the pool and at the beach.

We had an excellent tournament ably directed by Pat Ford.  The winners were again Laurie & Deborah who have also won most of the prizes during the week.  Well done to both of them. After the tournament results were announced, Deborah from Barrow Bridge Club gave a special thank you for the very warm welcome they received by the Javea Bridge Club and members.  She presented a gift of a beautiful picture photo of the impressive Furness Abbey which is a local tourist attraction in their town.

The event concluded with a delicious meal prepared and served by club members which was enjoyed by all.  Javea Club’s President, Maria gave thanks to all those who had helped with the event planning, organisation, and especially the catering of Carol, PatP & Anne.
